Veteran Rock Drummer CARL PALMER Jams With MOTÖRHEAD Offspring
June 3, 2004Tryst Williams of The Western Mail is reporting that veteran rock drummer Carl Palmer (ELP) treated students at a school in South Wales to a percussion lecture and workshop during a recent visit.
Teacher Richard Thomas, who helped arrange the visit to Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive School, Beddau, near Pontypridd, said, "The day was superb, Carl Palmer was incredible, and the lecture was extremely intelligent but pitched perfectly for an audience of 120 11 to 18-year-olds of mixed ability who were spellbound by his ability."
Thomas revealed the day had spawned a mini-supergroup when the sons of another rock legend joined in for a jamming session.
He added, "Students were called out to demonstrate their skills and he was particularly impressed with Bryn Celynnog's sixth-form student Dane Campbell — son of MOTÖRHEAD lead guitarist Phil Campbell.
"His brother and Year Eight student Tyler Campbell was also present.
"This was a feast of high-class drumming and percussion skills at their very best — fantastic." [Read more]
